Workshops and Recitals

WORKSHOPS

Workshops are held throughout the year either as a studio event that I plan based on my singers' needs or at the request of an organization.  The workshops that I plan are available to the public at a published fee

Workshops are offered to my private students for a reduced fee.

RECITALS

Each year I hold a Spring recital for my studio.  It is a celebration of my students' progress as singers. There is no charge.

Growing Self-Confidence

Self confidence and positive thinking are skills. In the same way a singer learns to shape pure vowels or use gestures while singing,  they can grow their self-confidence.  This workshop identifies specific tools to grow your ability to think positively and minimize negative thinking and emotions.

Using Pure Vowels to Unify Choral Sound

A unified choral sound comes from teaching your singers to match their vowel formations.  Singing pure vowels also reduces "noise" in the overtone series, making breath management more efficient and the vocal sound more beautiful.

Tying Technique to Dramatic Intention

The technical skills we use allow our voice to work freely and efficiently. Our technique needs to inform our dramatic choices. "What is happening emotionally or dramatically that makes your character stand upright or relax their jaw?"  If a singer is working to engage their core for stability, what is the dramatic reason that their character feels so much low body energy?

Music Notes

Working with an Accompanist

A Singer needs to be in charge of their performance.  They need to "lead" rather than "follow."  This workshop helps the singer implement  aural and visual

cues to inform their accompanist.
